Head Coach Recap Heschel Heat Girls Cougars Cool Heat Frisch 3 v. Heschel 2 5-17-22 Fresh off their perfect season (4-0) and two sweeps in a row last week, the Heschel Heat girls were left out in the cold by the still undefeated (6-0) Frisch Cougars, barely edging the Heat by 3-2. Heschel #1, Southpaw Rocket Josie Hertz, falling 2-10, fought for every point, disciplined and unbowed, as she fired fierce forehands from her own to her opponent’s baseline moving the Frisch #1 around the court, pushing her to the limit. Clutch Claudia Messer, Heat #2, insisted on keeping the partisan parental Frisch crowd at bay with another of her patented tiebreaker wins, 10-9 (7), commenting afterwards, “I love the pressure.” At Heschel #3, Sophia Kasirer-Teitelbaum hit some of the hardest, flattest, most uncompromising forehands of the competition, scrapping to a tough 7-10 defeat. The newly minted Mira Cohen and Maya Lalalezerian team partnered at #1 Doubles with grit and terrific teamwork before falling 5-10. Molly Mandl and Emma Rashkovich, also together for the first time, exhibited an impressive, high spirited level of competition and cooperation at #2 doubles to win in a taught tiebreaker 9-8 (4). Both doubles teams worked well as partners with one another, each of the players responding to intense pressure with professional focus. The Heat Girls are now 4-1 and playoff bound, with the second best record in the Western Conference and with the league Championship still within reach.
