Heat Beats Bleats; 3-2 Head Coach’s Recap 4-10-22 Heschel Heat Girls sealed the hottest Hollywood ending win of the season, squeezing the Ramaz Rams 3-2 in the final seconds of Sunday’s head to head match up. Down 2 matches to 1 going into two high wire tiebreakers, with only Sophia Kasirer-Teitelbaum’s 10-5 win on Heschel’s side of the scoreboard, the debut Heat team of Molly Mandl and Mira Cohen edged past their Ram opponents 7-5 in the 12 point tiebreaker with Mira miraculously blocking three hypersonic Ram groundstrokes, returning the third one with a sweet net cord-drop volley into Ram territory for the match. Seconds later, Heschel #1, Josie Hertz, pounded three groundies in a row back to her opponent, each harder than the next, to win her tiebreaker 10-8. The Rams were stunned but outgunned by the power of the final seconds of the hour. Claudia Messer whacked fearless groundstrokes at #2 while the debut team of Emma Rashkovich and Bianca Levy won their first two games of their career together. Rams Brand Stands, 3-2 The Boys Team was edged out 3-2, as #1 Max Rabin battered his Ram opponent 9-4 with his classic all-court game and William Rose overpowered with a 10-5 win at #2. Alex Potter at #3 finessed four games in a 10-4 loss and the Jamie Covit-Dylan Kronenberg team managed two games against a doubles opponent who maintained that he “usually plays #1 singles.” Ethan and Noah won 4 games in their loss and continue to show a model team partnership regardless of the scoreboard outcome. Kudos to Jesse & Oliver waiting patiently in the wings for their next matchatunity. Head Coach, Everett Sherman Can’t Beat The Heat
