In the first round of the playoffs for these two teams, the Ma’ayanot Rapids (#4- West) took on the Ramaz Rams (#1- East) in a hard fought game. While the Rapids started off strong and took a quick 10-2 lead in the first 5 minutes of the game, the Rams fought back and went into halftime on a 9-2 run, leaving the score at 19-17. Coming into the 3rd quarter the Rapids and Rams fought the entire way, and while Ma’ayanot kept the lead through the entire quarter, the Rams kept fighting back, matching basket for basket. With 4 minutes left in the 4th, the Rams finally caught up to the Rapids, and eventually took a one point lead on a foul shot. With 2 minutes left, the game was ties, and the Rapids and Rams were giving it all they had. With less than a minute and a half, clutch free throws by senior Rebecca Malech gave the Rapids a one point lead, and a clutch layup off a rebound by senior Sari Alexander gave the Rapids the lead for good. Strong defense in the last quarter by senior Elisheva Mirwis helped ensure that the Rams were held to little points in the last few minutes of the game. High scorers Alexander (14) and Malech (13) helped give the Rapids a 39-37 win, and move them onto the Semi finals.
