3rd Times a Charm

For the 3rd straight year for this senior group Frisch and DRS would meet in the playoffs. The last two meetings DRS came away with Championship wins. Earlier this year the two teams faught to a hard earned 1-1 tie at Frisch. Frisch came out strong early peppering All-star goalie Jakey Friedman with shots from all angles. Frisch drew a penalty at 9:31 on Finkleman for holding Joe Tropp' s stick. Frisch couldn't capitalize but continued to gain momentum.  With 7:14 remaining in the first Sammy Weiss netted one from behind the net when he sent an elevated pass into the crease which deflected off a foot and into the net for a 1-0 lead.As time wound down in the first Jonathan Aranoff tripped up Adler along the boards to put DRS on the power play.

Frisch killed off the penalty and just over a minute later Junior standout defenseman Aryrh Bloom stole the ball as DRS tried to push up the floor. Aryan broke in on a 2 on 1 along the right side and roofed a wrist shot in the top corner to give Frisch a 2-0 lead. Just 36 seconds later Bloom would end up in the box along with Weinstock as the two got tangled up behind the DRS net. A minute later Benjy Feintuch would be called for boarding giving DRS a 3 on 2 advantage. Frisch killed off the penalty which turned out to be a continuous theme through the evening. With 4:06 remaining in the 2nd Finkleman took his second penalty of the night putting Frisch on their 2nd and last power play of the night. DRS killed it off and got one more man advantage with 0:45 left. The Frisch trio of Ian Welfed, Bloom and Josh Levine were outstanding on the kill all night with the additional help of Maury Bauer.. Frisch took took 2 more penalties in the 3rd on a High sticking by Charlie Bendheim and goalie interference by Tropp. Through the first 30 minutes Frisch goalie Isaac Markovitz was an absolute wall. With just 5:39 remaining  DRS finally put one in on a back hand chip over the glove of Markovitz and into the top corner to cut Frisch's lead in half. Frisch tightened up their game after that continueing to put pressure on DRS down to the buzzer as they held on for the 2-1 win. Frisch moves on to face lical rival TABC in the semifinals.
