Hillel Varsity Champions  with 2-1 victory over YDE

It was a hot 90 degree Sunday afternoon in June and a standing room only crowd of fans that came to support the Hillel Heat. Both pitchers were hotter than the weather . YDE's ace Sol Asiss was blazing heat as he held Hillel scoreless thorough the first 3 innings. Michael Ancona was holding a ferocious YDE batting lineup in check.

In the second inning JD Dweck singles and starts off the rally.  With 2 outs Eliezer Ben Lu Lu clocked an 0-2 pitch to deep left Scoring Dweck and Giving YDE the early 1-0 lead .

Hillel gets rally going in the 3rd inning on hits by Michael Ancona and Isaac Beda . Hillel loads the bases on a walk to Teddy Braha.  However Sol Assis gets slugger Marty Antebi on hard grounder to Joey Yedid to end the rally.

Hillel down 1-0 in the 4th  seemed very familiar with this situation before . They were outscored 6-0 in the first 4 inning with their prior playoff opponents . However they came back with walk off victories in both games.

In the top of 4th  hits by JD Dweck , Jack Sayegh and a walk to Moises Cabasso load  the bases for YDE with one out . Michael Ancona once again bears down to stop the rally and was able to keep the deficit at 1-0 .

Bottom of the 4th  the Hillel "cardiac kids" came to life . After a pair of singles by Charlsey Seruya and Albert Sitt their were runners on 1st and 2nd with one out . Noah Maze steps up to the plate in this game changing moment . He was moved up from the 9 slot to the 7 slot in the batting order because of his torrid playoff hitting . Noah hits a huge base hit and scores two runs with wild throw from the outfield . Hillel took a 2-1 lead and YDE for the first time was trailing in this game.

Once Hillel took over the momentum Micheal "dungeon" Ancona stepped up his game. He retired the final 5 batters of the game and was the catalyst to Hillel's 3rd championship in 5 years.

It was a classic championship battle that lived up to its hype.  We would like to thank MYHSAL and Seth Gordon for running a flawless league this year .  In addition Abie Franco and his YDE team were great representation of our league and would like to thank them on a great game .
