JEC/RTMA Thunder vs SAR Sting Playoffs First Round 2017
2/24/2017 3:08

The JEC/RTMA Thunder faced the SAR JV for the third time this season. In the first game, a regular season game, SAR clinched home court in the playoffs against JEC/RTMA with a comeback from 15 points down in the thrid period, to win, 48-46.

In the next game, in the first week of February, with a 24 second clock in play, SAR came back from 15 points down in the 4th period, to win a key game in the Montreal Hebrew Academy JV Tournament.

JEC/RTMA wanted to prevent the huge comebacks by SAR in the playoffs. The approach was to let (just kidding) SAR amass a 17 point lead in the second quarter. That gave JEC/RTMA its push...and by the half, the lead was whittled down to 6pts.

At the start of the 3rd quarter, the bulge was down to 4 pts, and JEC/RTMA went ahead with 1:53 left in the game on soph sharpshooter Jake Goldberg's 4th, corner trey in the second half.

With 1:02 to play, JEC went up 58-55, and held on for the thriling win, as the JEC visiting throng stormed the court at the final buzzer.

Leading the Thunder in scoring was soph Yair Kimmel, with a breakout game and 22 pts. Goldberg finished with 17.
