The Flatbush Falcons hosted the Ramaz Rams in what would become an exciting opening to the playoffs. Both offenses came out hot, although the Rams prevailed in the end.
On their first shift of the game, the Falcons buried one into the back of the Ramaz net, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. However, the Rams quickly answered back, with senior Jared Feingold burying the equalizer almost as quickly. Nevertheless, the tie was short lived, as the Flatbush offense was able to regain the lead again, and now had a strong 2-1 lead. To close out the first period, though, Senior DJ Presser buried another shot in the Flatbush net, knotting the score at 2 after one period of play.
Not to be outdone in their own home, the Falcons opened the scoring in the 2nd, taking a strong 3-2 lead. However, this would be all the scoring the Falcons could manage. Later in the 2nd, Ramaz Senior Alex David ripped a half court blast, well behind the goalie, evening the game at 3 apiece, and energizing the excited Ramaz fans who had traveled to see their team.
Both teams then settled in for a bit, with strong, aggressive play. And, although both Ramaz and Flatbush had plenty of opportunities, both on the power play and even strength, the defenses stood tall. However, Feingold once again found the back of the net off a pass from Senior linemate Gabriel Silverman, putting Ramaz ahead 4-3. The score would stand as such for the remainder of the game, as Ramaz pulled out a gritty and well fought win against an extremely strong and aggressive opponent, behind their goalie Ben Kaplan. The Rams now travel to play the undefeated TABC Storm, who beat them twice this season.
