While it may have appeared to be just another clear Thursday night in Brooklyn the reality was quite different, as a Thunder storm was brewing in the Manhattan Beach Jewish center as the JEC Thunder JV Hockey team and the YDE Thunder JV Hockey team did battle to see which team would win, and which would be Thunderstruck!

As in their prior games, the JEC Thunder relied heavily on solid defense and strong goaltending to start the game. The sophomore tandem of Netanel Kramer and Yitzy Hirshkowitz managed to once again move the puck out of harm’s way, and up the court, with strong breakout passes and quick transition play, which, when once again paired with solid goaltending by Sophomore Alec Seidman, helped keep the YDE Thunder from gaining any traction.

Offensively the boys from the JEC managed to outwork, and out grind, a physical and aggressive YDE Thunder JV team. Once again, lead by two goals from Sophomore Elisha Schmutter, the JEC JV Thunder Offense finally broke through. Combined with a highlight real goal by sophomore Aryeh Marcus, and the contributions of Sophomores  Shmuel Weinberger and   Netanel Kramer the JEC Thunder managed to once again prevail 5-1 over the YDE Thunder, to take home round 1 of the Battle of the Thunder.  2 teams entered 1 team leaves!
