JEC JV Home Opener

What better place to start a season on a rainy Wednesday than the JEC Thunderdome, and on a night when no stars could be seen in the sky because of overcast conditions , there were plenty to see  inside at the JEC Thunder JV hockey season opener.

The JV thunder put on an offensive display that was carbon copy of the Varsity Thunders opener 1 week earlier. Anchored by strong defensive puck possession from Sophomores Netanel Kramer and Yitzy Hershkowitz, the Thunder offense was able to maintain a steady barge of shots on the Shaare Torah Stars net for most of the game. Picking up right where they left off last year, Sophomores Aryeh Marcus and Elisha Schmutter each scored 4 goals, to give the home team a dominating and insurmountable lead.  Freshman Sammy Simcha chipped in with three goals of his own, and sophomores Shmuel Weinberger and Yossi Benkhen also scored, to cap off a JV home opener that will sure to be remembered by the large home crowd in attendance, as well as by those who followed along at home via the Live Stream .

In net the JV Thunder relied on the sophomore tandem of Alec Seidman , who played 2 periods, and Sammy Friedman, who closed it out.  Both boys were happy to work with the offensive explosion provided by their teammates, yet, when called upon, managed to prove that they too are ready for the long season as both turned in solid performances.
